The Discover Inverclyde website www.discoverinverclyde.com is now live.
The website can be accessed via any search engine and offers a one-stop and easy to navigate site for those seeking to find out more about what to do in Inverclyde, either for a day trip or longer stay.
Whether you are looking for great places to visit or information on where to eat, drink and shop, the Discover Inverclyde site makes it easy and offers a comprehensive view on Inverclyde. It includes places to stay, with something for all budgets and tastes and also news of local events and initiatives.
Chris Jewell, a Director of Discover Inverclyde, said: “Inverclyde has so much to offer and the Discover Inverclyde website is part of a longer term campaign to promote the area to a worldwide audience. The website will be populated further over the coming weeks and also offers attractive advertising and marketing opportunities to members, as well as offering a programme of regular activities aimed at boosting the number of visitors to the area.”
Sharon Murdoch, Managing Director of Funworld Leisure agrees: “I am excited about Discover Inverclyde and I took the decision for Funworld to be committed right from the start. I feel that we are perfectly placed to promote Inverclyde as a vibrant and attractive destination and would encourage other local businesses involved in tourism, leisure, retail and the arts to become members and work together.”
Drew McKenzie, owner of Alexanders Butchers in Port Glasgow added: “I welcome the new Discover Inverclyde website and believe it has the potential to enhance Inverclyde’s reputation and focus minds on the many positives Inverclyde has to offer. The new website will allow people from Inverclyde and visitors the area to actually discover Inverclyde.”
Discover Inverclyde is a tourism, leisure, retail and arts forum set-up to help as a not-for-profit company to secure the future success of the area as a tourist destination. Supported by Inverclyde Council, as part of its Tourism Strategy, Riverside Inverclyde, Greenock Chamber of Commerce and Visit Scotland, Discover Inverclyde is viewed as a major opportunity to change perceptions of the area and create a more positive profile and greater economic prosperity for the area and its people.
With tourism intending to play an increasingly significant role in the future of Inverclyde, it is important to promote the area as a first class visitor destination – Discover Inverclyde aims to do this through businesses involved in tourism, retail, leisure and the arts. It is directed by a volunteer board of local business people and membership in the first year has been set at £30 for businesses with fewer than 50 employees and £50 for those with over 50 employees. Those interested in joining can do so on the site or call our helpline on 01475 522901.
