YOUNGSTERS can hop along to Cardwell Garden Centre and have some fun with our Peter Rabbit activities as part of National Children’s Gardening Week.

The popular centre, near Gourock is supporting the event, which runs between May 25 and June 2, with a free Peter Rabbit treasure hunt, colouring sheets and we’ll also be giving away free Peter Rabbit activity booklets.

These booklets are packed full of mischievous and fun outdoor and indoor activities for children to enjoy.

National Children’s Gardening Week is an annual event and this year is partnered with the World of Peter Rabbit. It’s a festival of fun in the garden that’s embraced in homes, schools and community groups up and down the country.

It also supports the Greenfingers charity, which is dedicated to providing magical gardens for children in hospices suffering from life-limiting illnesses.

Cardwell’s retail general manager, Paul Carmichael said: “National Children’s Gardening Week celebrates the fun that gardens hold for kids and the grown-ups who are helping them.

“Children love being in the garden and watching what they have planted grow into plants and flowers.

“We’re encouraging youngsters to grow with Peter Rabbit and give them an interest in gardening that will hopefully stay with them as they get older.

“And in the meantime, we want to make sure they have lots of fun in their gardens.”
