Inverclyde Tourist Group

Our very own Inverclyde Tourist Group members will be on hand when you disembark your ship and can offer a variety of help and advice to make sure you enjoy your stay with us.

They can advise on:

  • Places of interest to visit.
  • Sporting and leisure opportunities, including golf.
  • Local shopping: traditional and chain stores.
  • Transport: trains, buses, taxis, car hire.
  • Places to eat and drink.
  • Internet and telephone access.
  • Clan history and tartan.

For cruise ship passengers we also
run local coach tours on cruise call days.

Getting around

Here is a local transport guide to help you make the most of your day’s excursion.

Whether you are looking to make your way by public transport or make more individually tailored travel plans, then you will find out all you need to know here.

We have excellent transport links with Glasgow and the rest of Scotland.

In Greenock, you berth at our Ocean Terminal, and disembark directly on to the pier.

Here our welcome team, made up of the lovely volunteers from Inverclyde Tourist Group, will point you in the direction of your excursion coach if you have pre-booked a tour.

They can also advise you on making other plans for the day, advise on other transport options and offer to join on of their own highly recommended local sightseeing tours around the towns and villages our this beautiful corner of Scotland.

By Rail

By Rail

Greenock Central Station is situated a short 10 minute walk from where your ship docks at Ocean Terminal.

  • You can buy tickets online, at the station or on the trains.
  • All credit cards are accepted.
  • There are 4 trains per hour to Glasgow Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat
  • There is one train per hour on a Sunday.
  • The journey takes approximately 35 minutes.
  • Trains from Greenock Central Station terminate at Glasgow Central Station.
  • Off peak (after 9am) costs are: £7.30 adult return and £1.00 child return.

You can also combine your train ticket with a Glasgow City Bus Tour.

This combined cost is £20.20 per adult and £10.30 per child.

Please make sure you arrange to be back in Greenock in plenty of time for your ship’s departure.

Local scenic bus tours

Looking to stay local and do a quick sightseeing trip of Inverclyde? Why not hop on one of our open top bus to see some local sights!

  • Tickets cost £10 and can be purchased on the open top bus at Ocean Terminal.
  • Tours last approximately 1hour 15minutes.

Glasgow

You can get a local bus to Glasgow at a variety of bus stops. Your Inverclyde Tourist Group guide can advise when you disembark at Ocean terminal or take a look at our bus stop map.

McGill’s Buses operate service 901 and 906 for direct transfer to Glasgow City Centre (Buchanan Street Bus Station).

Return tickets cost £8.00 per adult and £4.00 per child and also allow customers to use other city buses on the network.

 

Please make sure you arrange to be back in Greenock in plenty of time for your ship’s departure.

 

Crew members

If you are a crew member, please speak to one of our Inverclyde Tourist Group members who will be happy to help you with details of on-travel to services and the local retail park.

 

Inverclyde’s villages – Inverkip, Kilmacolm, Gourock

Try something different and visit our local coastal villages, heading south from Greenock.

Enjoy the beach and coastal paths at Kip Marina (Inverkip), or tuck into a traditional fish tea in Wemyss Bay.

You can get a local bus to Inverkip, Wemyss Bay or Gourock at a variety of bus stops. Your Inverclyde Tourist Group guide can advise when you disembark at Ocean Terminal or take a look at our bus stop map.
