Outdoor activities
Inverclyde offers unique walking experiences with world class views, a proud heritage and is easily accessible.
Located alongside the River Clyde and with Clyde Muirshiel Park in its hinterland, Inverclyde offers a variety of coastal walks and countryside trails and climbs.
Behind the houses overlooking Inverclyde lies ‘The Greenock Cut’ a great outdoor walk that will take you up to 12 kilometres around the fields and water reservoirs of Clyde Murshiel Country Park. With two options available, you can walk just 3-5 kilometres along the country paths and pop into the visitor centre for a coffee, or embark on a much longer 12 kilometre loop.
See the interactive Greenock Cut exhibition or learn about nature at a family Ranger Event. For more information click here.
Another fantastic waterfront scenic walk is accessible from Gourock, to Lunderston Bay and on to Inverkip. Roughly 6 1/2 kilometres, this flat walk along the waters edge provides spectacular views of the River Clyde, where you can watch boats and ferries come and go throughout the day.
For the die hard hikers, there’s the option to walk a further 3 kilometres to finish at Inverkip Marina, where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks at Buckley’s Inverkip, overlooking the marina. Alternatively, walkers can continue through the marina, cross the bridge, and head to Inverkip village, home to the cosy Inverkip Hotel and more tasty food and drink options.
