Inverclyde offers unique walking experiences with world class views, a proud heritage and is easily accessible.

Located alongside the River Clyde and with Clyde Muirshiel Park in its hinterland the area offers a variety of coastal walks and countryside trails and climbs.

Behind the houses overlooking Inverclyde lies ‘The Greenock Cut’ a walk that will take you up to 12 kilometres around the fields and water reservoirs of Clyde Murshiel Country Park. An easy stroll in the outdoors, you can walk just 3 – 5k along the country paths and pop into the visitor centre or a much longer 12 kilometre loop are both options in this area.   See the interactive Greenock Cut exhibition or learn about nature at a family Ranger Event.

An easier option along the waterfront of Inverclyde is a walk from Gourock, to Lunderston Bay and on to Inverkip.  This walk is flat the whole way, straight along the water’s edge taking in spectacular views and watching the boats and ferries come and go. Gourock to Lunderston Bay is approx. 6 ½ kilometres and will take over an hour.

If you wish to continue from here you can walk along the coastal path another 3 kilometres to finish at Inverkip Marina, where you are always welcome for a drink or something to eat overlooking the many yachts in the Marina at the Chartroom Bar & Restaurant.

Alternatively keep walking through the marina, over the bridge and into the village for the Inverkip Hotel, with it’s open fire and warm welcome. A regular spot for walkers and cyclists.   From here you can just pop to Inverkip train station and return on the train to Greenock
