Coastal Cruising

Cycling Route

  • Distance8 miles
  • Average elevation100

Difficulty: Easy with one small hill.

This route has all you need for a family trip out, traffic free on the nation cycle network as far as Inverkip marina you hug the stunning Inverclyde Coastline and Lunderston bay.

Look out for the huge array of bird life and maybe even a submarine! At Kip marina you rejoin quiet roads as you head towards Ardgowan Estate. You then join A770 to head back to Lunderston Bay where you can rejoin the NCN. There is not a cycle path along the A770. Cyclists not confident on roads should push along this short stretch on the pavement. You could also reverse the route from the marina if you wish.

Type of Bike: Any

What to bring: Bring Your wildlife spotting book with you and a camera – particularly for the bird life!

Places to stop along the way: Lunderston Bay is the perfect place for a stop to take in the views and have a snack! This route is also great to check out the Marina.
