Port Glasgow to Parklea

Cycling Route

  • Distance5 miles

Difficulty: Very easy and perfect for a family. There are some very short sections on very quiet roads, but the majority of the route is traffic free.

This is a cracker of a route and is best started from Coronation Park, you begin your adventure heading towards Newark Castle with the beautiful views out across the water. You then join an excellent traffic free cycle path which hugs the sea front, look out for seagulls dropping shells on you! Keep cycling till you reach Kelburn Park, just beyond Kelburn park is the Parklea branching out, if its a week day you can pop in and get a drink or snack at their excellent cafe and learn more about the work they do, take a bag with you as you may wish to buy one of their plants. You can even continue your cycling slightly past parklea if you wish. To reach Coronation Park simply turn around and retrace your route.

Type of Bike: Any

What to Bring: Bring a picnic for the family and make a day of it.

Places to stop along the way: There are plenty of lovely spots to stop along the way to have a bite to eat and take in the scenery.

Want more?

Why not start your journey from Greenock and follow the coastal trail. Or if you’re feeling really ambitious you could syart from Gourock and follow the NCN 75 and the coastal trail and then get the train home from Woodhall. It’s super easy to get a limited number of bikes on the train at no additional cost.
