The afrowegian (aka Jideofor Muotune) in discussion with Dr Stephen Mullen, author of ‘It Wisnae Us’, the agenda-setting book making the links between Glasgow’s buildings, tobacco, and the Slave Trade.
Together they will interrogate the “heroic figure” of Watt the engineer and developer of the steam engine, with Dr Mullen sharing his research around this famous Greenockian – James Watt; his father James Watt Senior; and his brother, John and Dr Mullen’s discoveries of the Watts’ extensive involvement in transatlantic mercantile trade with North American colonies and the sugar plantations of the Caribbean.
