Discover Inverclyde for yourself this October week

While it feels like we are under a lot of new restrictions there are still a lot of activities, some for free, that you can do to keep families of all ages entertained over the October school holidays.

Where’s Watty – Come along to the Watt Institution on Wednesday to Friday, between 10am – 2pm.  It’s free of charge.  Our Watty has travelled through a time tunnel and is now stuck in nine different periods of history.  Can you follow the clues to find all the Wattys through the ages? If you are successful you will become a Junior Detective with your own certificate.  Find out more here

For the grown ups the Watt Institution, including the Watt Hall and the McClean Museum are open for you to explore and enjoy.

Galoshans – For events with a more spooky feel, a number of activities in the lead up to the annual Galoshans festival have already begun.  Find out what you can take part in here

The James Watt Walk – Through the wonders of augmented reality you can explore the life of James Watt by following the walk through Greenock town centre. Discover lots of amazing facts about Greenock’s most famous son. It’s free to take part however you will need to download the app on your phone. Find out more here

Finlaystone Estate – You can stomp around in the mud and let off some steam, run around for miles, play on the zip slide or guard your fort.   If it’s nice even stay for a picnic.  Great for kids of all ages.  The estate is open every day of the year 10am-5pm. Admission prices are £3.50 for child and concession and £5 for adults.   Details can be found here

The Gourock Pool – The weather may be changing but the pool is still warm and inviting.  It is remains open until the end of October.  There are family sessions available as long as you prebook and adult only lane swimming is also available.   Visit Inverclyde Leisure to find out more.

The Cut  – get your boots or trainers on and take a walk on the wild side.  Although the visitor centre remains closed you can still walk The Cut, either all 9 kilometres of it or just part of it.  Get out and go walking.  Clydemurshiel

ELEV8 – Inverclyde’s largest trampoline park has reopened and have extended their opening hours for the October school week. Let your children bounce of some steam while you have a cuppa.  Find out more about opening hours and costs on their Facebook page.
