Life in Inverclyde

Burns Night, held in honour of Scotland’s most famous poet Robert Burns, is celebrated at the end of January every year. The night is a way to remember the life of the 18th century bard and it falls on his birthday!

Many restaurants across Inverclyde will offering up a special dinner tonight in Honour of Robert Burns.

Greenock Burns Club is holding the Annual Celebration 2023 in The Tontine this evening. Tickets still available at: Greenock Burns Club (The Mother Club)


Greenock Burns Club is the mother club and renowned across the Globe. It can be traced back to 1801, just 5 years after the death of Robert Burns and is thus recognised as the world’s oldest Burns Club.

“Becoming a Member of Greenock Burns Club (The Mother Club), the oldest Burns club in the world, couldn’t be simpler. You can join as a Member, a Young Member, Family Member or as an Overseas Ambassador. It’s as simple as filling out the application form below. You’ll find yourself welcome in a club whose membership spans the globe: part of a truly international movement and in the company of fellow Burns enthusiasts whose aims are to promote the works and preserve the memory of Scotland’s greatest literary icon.”
