Clyde Charters have been operating successfully over the last 8 years providing special day trips for customers to enjoy the hidden gems of the River Clyde and surrounding lochs. Coronavirus hugely affected our business in 2019 so it was important to diversify our offering or risk closure.
Since then, our boat trips to the Sugar Boat in Greenock, day trips to Little Cumbrae and various other trips have proven extremely popular and allow our passengers to explore local history in a way that is entirely unique. All our boats cater for 12 passengers and operate to the highest safety standards.
Our experienced Skippers have worked on the River Clyde for many years and are here to make sure you are in safe hands. Our skippers have excellent local knowledge and will make your Clyde Charter trip an ultimate experience to see the magical sights we have right on our doorstep.
This year marks 50 years since the sinking of what is now Greenock’s biggest visitor attraction, the iconic shipwreck of the MV Captayannis.
This wreck has become a landmark of the River Clyde and provides a unique opportunity to explore a piece of history from our local area. The ship has been stripped of valuable metals and fittings over the years, though some of her wooden decking remains in remarkably good condition after more than 40 years in the sea.
She settled at a 90 degree angle to the water where she has remained ever since. Over the years, she has become a haven for various birds and sea-life animals who have made home in the wreckage. This trip gives you the opportunity to see this wildlife up close and get within touching distance of the Sugar Boat.

Join us for an exciting fast Rib trip on the Firth of Clyde. Your one hour trip at an exhilrating speed will take you into the open waters of the clyde and into some of our islands and sea lochs. During this trip you can take in some of the magestic scenery we have on our doorstep and the possibility of seeing some wildlife such as dolphins, seals, porpoise and various birdlife. This thrill seeking trip is suitable for ages 5 and above. Life jackets will be provided by our crew members.

We will be taking a scenic route heading toward Largs, all throughout where our local pod of dolphins have been recently spotted! Our trip will begin at James Watt Dock marina, and we will pass through Greenock and Gourock. Our planned route to find the dolphins will be passing the Cloch lighthouse, Inverkip marina and Skelmorlie up close from the riverside, then Knock Castle before we arrive at Largs, where the dolphins have most frequently been spotted, so they can join us at any point in our trip! Seals, porpoises and dolphins are all normal to see along this route, and we hope to have a wide range of wildlife join us! Passengers are invited to let our crew know if they have spotted any of the local wildlife, and we can keep watch! We will be sailing onboard our vessel Topcat, which has recently been renovated with a social layout, a brand new bar and indoor heating, and we will be supplying snacks and drinks (hot, cold and alcoholic!) from our recently improved menu.
