National Bird Nest Box week

18.03.2021

Life in Inverclyde

This week is National Bird Nest Box week, which is run by the British Trust every year with the aim of promoting the benefits of bird nest boxes.

Unfortunately, the populations of many bird species are down because of the difficulty finding natural homes. This is because gardens, parks and woodland areas are tidier and there is less space on modern buildings for the birds to nest.

However, the fantastic news is that everyone is able to do their part to help. Senior park ranger Mike has created a video (below) demonstrating how to set up a bird nest box.

The wild birds will hugely benefit from these homemade bird nest boxes, situated in your gardens, schools, work etc.

Share your bird nest boxes on Facebook @Discover Inverclyde, Instagram @discoverinverclyde and Twitter @discinverclyde and don’t forget to tag us!
