On the right track

I’m very happy to see tourism restart over this past week and I know of a few people who’ve managed to go “out out” even though they’ve had to endure hailstones and freezing temperatures. There’s even a glimmer of hope for the events industry, with test events starting to appear to gauge whether they can be done without masks and social distancing.

I know there are still many questions around things like physical distancing and international travel but I’m hearing that many places are starting to fill up as people ditch the idea of an international holiday for a domestic one instead. There are still challenges in cities, but real opportunities to market those perfect places in Scotland where you’ll get a unique and quieter experience.

So, a big thank you from future visitors and from VisitScotland for once again reopening safely and bringing back the great Scottish welcome – something we’ve all been needing for a long time.

Kind regards
Malcolm Roughead OBE
Chief Executive, VisitScotland
