Nominations have closed and voting is now underway for the nominees in the various categories of these awards. For the organisers, Chris Jewell said, ‘There are fewer nominations this time than in a normal year, but a good number overall. We should remember that there were far fewer competitions in 2020 and 2021 with none as far as school teams are concerned in both years, which means we can’t award a School Team of the Year trophy this time.’
To vote for as many of the nominees as you want, go to www.inverclydesportsersonality.com
Voting is instant and you can vote as often as you want for any number of nominees until voting closes at 6pm on 22 April. Thereafter, the panel will come into action and find the winners with the number of votes cast for each nominee being a factor in the final decision.
Chris added, ‘Once again we are indebted to our sponsors to make these special awards happen, including West College Scotland, sportscotland, Inverclyde Council, Inverclyde Leisure and Autotec in Port Glasgow. We are greatly looking forward to another glittering awards dinner on Friday 13th May in the Greenock Town Hall and all our finalists (up to the top five voted for in any category) will receive a ticket to this event, with one ticket per team for the team categories.
‘We hope supporters will get behind their nominees and want to be present at the Awards dinner; tickets, which include a drink on arrival, a three-course meal with drinks on the table, and tea and coffee are available from Smiths Sports in West Blackhall Street in Greenock, tel 01475 888555, and cost £38. Any proceeds from the evening will be used to provide further grants to aspiring local sportspeople to help them get as far as they can to the top of their sport.’
