Inverclyde Council International Women’s Day

Inverclyde Council International Women’s Day

08.03.2024

Greenock

Watt Institution, Kelly Street, Greenock, UK

Join Inverclyde Council in celebrating International Women’s Day 2024.

Celebrate International Women’s Day by joining us at the beautiful Watt Institution for an insightful and informative exploration of the real women behind stories of witches and witchcraft in Inverclyde and beyond.

Archivist, Lorraine Murray, will give a talk on Witchcraft in Inverclyde, alongside an exhibition of the same name. There will also be an opportunity to explore the Witches in Word, Not Deed installation in the Watt Library. This interpretation design project by artist Carolyn Sutton brings into focus the women persecuted as witches across Scotland under the Witchcraft Act of 1563. It also explores themes linked to identity and underlines the enduring power of words. Join us for what promises to be an enlightening afternoon and mark the Day!

#inspireinclusion

There will be tea and coffee on arrival.

A BSL interpreter will be present on the day.
